EAST VS. WEST

In December 2004 – January 2005, a series of protests in the Ukranian capital, Kiev in the immediate aftermath of the run-off vote of the presidential election, marred by massive corruption, voter intimidation and direct electoral fraud. Civil resistance, with thousands of protesters demonstrated and camped out. Nationwide, the democratic revolution was highlighted by a series of acts of civil disobedience, sit-ins, and general strikes organized by the opposition movement. In the east, in Donetsk, mainly pro Russian, any attempt to protest was squashed. These portraits show the faces of both sides.
